Cool Mac OS X Tips

I just purchased a brand new Apple Macbook Pro. Previously I have been a PC user and switching to Mac has been fairly easy. There are some things that I miss but the new features of OS X outweigh them. Below are a few tips that every Mac owner should know.

1.) To put dashboard widgets on the desktop, drag them and hit F12 while still dragging. You can put them back in the dashboard by dragging and opening the dashboard at the same time. (For the drag/F12 trick to work, first you have to open terminal and type:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES (return)

You might have to do this as root or sudo the command.

Then either logout and login again or reboot and your widgets can now be dragged onto the desktop.)

People always seem to wonder how I came to look and be who I am today. The questions vary in its extremities, but I find them all amusing nonetheless. How do you get that kind of nose if you’re Asian? You look more mixed is your mom or dad white? Why are you not friends with a lot of Asian people like the other Asians are? Why aren’t you married yet? How did you manage to graduate from a four year college at the age of 22? You’re dating a white guy? 6 years? Your family was in the Khmer Rouge? Today I spoke on the phone with my bro and my grandma’s twin sister in Cambodia. I continue to realize why I don’t speak cambodian…people are always just laughing hysterically at me. Don’t they understand how difficult it is for me to try and speak when every word I say results in laughter? Well here’s a little Cambodian for you all. At least you all won’t laugh at me since you are reading it. Maybe if you’re lucky I may teach you more and engage in a Cambodian conversation.

How are you? Tomorrow I’m going to work. Right now I’m going to bed.

I guess you can see why they laugh at me…my sentences don’t flow.
